PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyphenylene sulfide fiber for reinforcing resins presenting no deterioration in fiber characteristics even when treated at relatively high temperatures during molding and processing of a fiber reinforced resin, good in adhesiveness between the resin and the fiber and excellent in molding and processability. SOLUTION: This polyphenylene sulfide fiber for reinforcing the resins is brought to have≥3.5 cN/dtex tensile strength, 20-30% elongation,≤5% dry heat shrinkage and≥3.0 cN/dtex tensile strength after treated for 20 hours in dry heat at 230°C, to be crimp-processed to have 4-40 turn/25 mm number of crimps and have at least any one of grooves, pores or protrusions on the fiber surface. The cross-sectional shape of the fiber has a plurality of concave- convex parts and 3-8 protruded parts. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
