PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for substituting gas in an exhaust- gas treatment apparatus accompanying a solid reducing-agent-charged type melting/reducing furnace, which can substitute the gas in a system for a short time, give little load on a forced draft fan for blowing air in order to prepare a work environment for inspection or the like, and do not endanger an operation of the melting/reducing furnace, during inspection or the like. SOLUTION: This method comprises, when substituting the gas in the exhaust- gas treatment apparatus 10 of the solid reducing-agent-charged type melting/ reducing furnace 1, introducing the substitution gas from a gas introduction nozzle 35 of the above exhaust-gas treatment apparatus so that a pressure in the furnace top of the solid reducing agent-charged-type smelting reduction furnace can not become positive, and absorbing/exhausting the substitution gas introduced from the above gas introduction nozzle, in a bleed screw 21 installed in a flue which couples the above exhaust-gas treatment apparatus with the above melting/reducing furnace.
