<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which makes it easy to manage a secret key when secure communications are used. <P>SOLUTION: A mediating server 200 holds secret keys and sends a corresponding secret key to allow secure communications between a printer 100 and a personal computer 300. Consequently, the server 200 mediates the secure communications between the printer 100 and personal computer 300. The secure communications mediated are used in a print request from the personal computer 300 to the printer 100. Consequently, a print request from a general client who can use an open key to a service device equipped with no high-level secret key management mechanism through the secure communications is actualized and the mediating server 200 can strictly manages the secret keys. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
