The present invention relates to a method and a device for setting of the transport length at working machines, comprising a driving means with a feed wheel for a pair of feed tongs, a first and a second stop for the pair of feed tongs, whereas the feed wheel 25 is set in start position zero position according to a marking at the wheel, a moveable shaft 8 provided in the first stop is displaced parallel with the movement of the pair of feed tongs to contact with the lower portion 3 of the pair of feed tongs by turning of the set knob 13 and the fine set knob 20 and that a second moveable shaft 7 provided in the second stop is displaced parallel to the movement of the pair of feed tongs to contact with the lower portion 3 of the pair of feed tongs whereupon the desired transport length is set by displacement of the shaft 7 by turning of the set knob 22 and the fine set knob 29.
