PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device substrate and a method for fabricating the same are provided to remove at least one or more insulating film among multi-layered insulating films between a substrate and pixel electrodes, thereby reducing the light path between the substrate and the pixel electrodes and improving the transmissivity and the luminance. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device substrate includes a substrate, gate wires formed on the substrate with gate lines(22) and gate electrodes, a gate insulating film covering the gate wires, a semiconductor pattern(42) formed on the gate insulating film, data wires formed on the gate insulating film with data lines intersecting the gate lines, and source/drain electrodes(65,66) electrically connected to the semiconductor pattern, a protecting film covering the data wires and the semiconductor pattern and having contact holes(72) to expose the drain electrodes, and pixel electrodes(82) connected to the drain electrodes via the contact holes. Either of the protecting and gate insulating films has openings(P) overlapping the pixel electrodes.
