PURPOSE: A method for preparing a separator for a capacitor is provided, which separator has little electrical resistance without using asbestos and shows excellent impact resistance and acid resistance. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of adding 2-5 wt% of an aqueous synthetic resin emulsion comprising 20-30 wt% of a water-soluble urea resin, 20-30 wt% of a water-soluble synthetic resin and 40-60 wt% of water, to a paper material with a fiber concentration of 5-8 % which comprises 35-45 wt% of cotton fiber yarn, 15-25 wt% of synthetic fiber yarn and 35-45 wt% of glass fiber yarn; making paper from the mixture; and drying the obtained paper. Preferably the synthetic fiber yarn is polyethylene yarn, polypropylene yarn, polyester yarn or nylon yarn; and the water-soluble synthetic resin is water-soluble acryl resin, water-soluble polybutadiene resin, aqueous acryl emulsion, aqueous vinyl acetate emulsion or aqueous vinyl acetate emulsion.
