CONSTITUTION: A method for reading a two dimensional bar code includes a step 102 for using an area sensor to photograph a two-dimensional bar code printed on a piece of paper, etc., and applying distortion correction by projective transformation to the image of the two-dimensional bar code obtained from the area sensor, a step 103 for correcting brightness inhomogeneity appearing in the image, and a step 104 for decoding the two-dimensional bar code on the basis of the image data of the two-dimensional bar code corrected in the preceding two steps.
