METHOD FOR MAKING PLANOGRAPHIC PRINTING PLATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for making a positive or negative planographic printing plate in which a hydrophilic layer has high hydrophilicity and excellent bonding power to a support and which has an improved staining property in printing and gives stain-free prints even under severe printing conditions.

SOLUTION: An original plate for a planographic printing plate having on a support a hydrophilic layer bonding directly and chemically to the surface of the support and comprising a high molecular compound having a hydrophilic functional group and an image forming layer in order is imagewise exposed and developed and the surface of the resulting plate is protected with a plate surface protecting agent comprising gum arabic containing a specific quantity of calcium.
