PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resonator intended to be fixed its tuning fork portion having a pair of parallel arms to a case. SOLUTION: The pair of parallel arms (44 and 46) are connected by a base (48) with each other and each of the arms has electrodes (52 and 54) respectively connected to connection pads (60 and 62) to be electrically connected to the outside of the case. According to the present invention, the resonator (40) includes a central arm (50) fixed on the base (48) and disposed on the position between the arms (44 and 46) of the tuning fork portion (42) equally distant from the arms. The central arm (50) has a larger mass than that of the tuning fork portion, and the connection pads (60 and 62) are mounted on the central arm (50). The resonator (40) is fixed on a parallel type case by fixing the central arm (50) to at least one of supports fixed to the bottom of the case. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
