PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform sure speed changing operation in an automatic transmission. SOLUTION: The automatic transmission is provided with a plurality of speed changing gear trains arranged between an input shaft and an output shaft. The speed changing gear train for performing the power transmission is selected among the plurality of the speed changing gear trains by means of positive clutches. The rotation of an engine is adjusted by means of an electronically controlled throttle. A bypass clutch is provided between the input shaft and the output shaft in order to adjust torque transmitted from the input shaft to the output shaft. When misengagement occurs during the changing operation by the positive clutches, shaking control is carried out so as to make hydraulic pressure in the bypass clutch fluctuate.
