PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device that can eliminate a sense of irritation by a user after a power OFF instruction. SOLUTION: When a power OFF instruction is made, first a prescribed voltage is applied to a backlight 19 to bring a prescribed display luminance to a display screen of an LCD display device 8, and the LCD display device 8 reproduces and displays a setting image on the basis of image data expressing a setting image (at least one of photographed images photographed during immediate power ON) stored in a DRAM 6, and termination processes are executed such that reduction of a voltage applied to the backlight 19 is started, the reduction in the display luminance is started, the photographing mirror frame is moved to the shell sink position, the reproduction display of the setting image is finished, the voltage applied to the backlight 19 is made zero, the display luminance of the display screen is made zero, and supply of power to each internal circuit is stopped.
