PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for heating a sheet and an apparatus therefor by which compact constitution can be attained and ultrasonic vibration energy can be uniformly imparted in a width direction of a sheet and to provide a method and an apparatus for fixing. SOLUTION: In the fixing apparatus in which toner on a fixing sheet 13 is thermally melted and is fixed by applying ultrasonic vibration while moving the fixing sheet 13, plural vibration members 11, 12 extending in a width direction orthogonally crossing a moving direction of the fixing sheet 13 are disposed so as to be able to be pushed to the fixing sheet 13 and an ultrasonic vibrator 15 is disposed at the vibration members 11, 12 so that the vibration members 11, 12 resonance with a longitudinal stationary wave in a longitudinal direction.
