PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation control method for a freezing and refrigerating reach-in showcase that not only suppresses an operating cost by reducing electric power for heating, but also offers reliable heating, when a cold/hot- switchable compartment is used as a warming compartment, and excludes corresponding structural complication, in a showcase that sets a plurality of compartments in different temperature zones and has a cold/hot-switchable compartment. SOLUTION: The freezing and refrigerating reach-in showcase divides a showcase body 1 internally into a plurality of compartments 3a to 3c mutually separated by insulating walls and set in different temperature zones, arranges a door over an opening for merchandise access in the front of each compartment 3a to 3c, and forms at least one of the compartments 3a to 3c into a cold/hot- switchable compartment. A plurality of refrigeration cycles are configured. When the cold/hot-switchable compartment is set as a warming compartment, the warming compartment is heated, with refrigerant heat in the refrigeration cycle(s) other than a refrigeration cycle for cooling the cold/hot-switchable compartment.
