PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of driving a CCD color image sensor whereby an electron shutter function showing signal charge accumulation times differing from color to color can be achieved by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: Unnecessary charges occurring in photoelectric conversion elements of individual colors are transferred by a shift resister within times (t<SB>2</SB><t<t<SB>5</SB>) of accumulating signal charges in photoelectric conversion elements of at least colors R, G, B and the signal charges accumulated in the photoelectric conversion elements of individual colors according to times (R: t<SB>4</SB><t<t<SB>5</SB>, G: t<SB>3</SB><t<t<SB>5</SB>, B: t<SB>2</SB><t<t<SB>5</SB>) differing from color to color are transferred within times (t<SB>0</SB><t<t<SB>1</SB>) for accumulating the unnecessary charges in the photoelectric conversion elements of individual colors by the shift register.
