PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional imaging apparatus that cannot have suppressed flicker because an integral value of light quantity is varied for every frame when the speed of an electronic shutter is faster than a flicker period of a light source. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is provided with: an automatic level adjustment means that controls a gain of an amplifier on the basis of image statistic information and outputs a setting value to decide a speed of the electronic shutter; a control means that outputs an instruction signal to decide a frame frequency of a photographed image in response to the setting value according to the set imaging mode; a timing generator that selects the speed of the electronic shutter on the basis of the setting value and controls the frame frequency on the basis of the instruction signal; and an imaging mode setting means that sets the imaging mode.
