PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanner operable at high speed and a copying machine using the same in which a CCD sensor can be driven at high speed by a clock signal to be inputted to a circuit for generating a CCD driving signal, for example. SOLUTION: In the scanner for providing an image signal from the output signal of a CCD, a CCD substrate 21 provided with the CCD and a control board 22 for performing the control of the CCD and image processing of the output signal of the CCD are connected by a differential signal transmission line.
