PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a probe for detecting states of particles, which can surely detect the state of particles in water to be tested without being affected by the chromaticity component of the water to be tested. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a light emitting section (first optical fiber 1) which projects laser into the water to be tested, a plurality of photo detecting sections (second optical fibers 2a, 2b) which are disposed near the light emitting section and receive scattering light occurring because of collisions of the laser with the particles in the water to be tested with different distances respectively, and a support member (table 3) which supports both the light emitting section and the photo detecting sections in such a condition that a laser projecting region formed by the light emitting section and a photo receiving region of the scattering light formed by each photo detecting section cross each other and specifies a region for measuring the state of the particles in the water to be tested. The state of the particles in the water to be tested is measured based on the intensity of the scattering light received by the plurality of photo detecting sections respectively, and a specific chromaticity component of the water to be tested is measured.
