PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car washing device capable of securely detecting retreat of a washed vehicle and returning the main body of car washing machine to a predetermined position. SOLUTION: Apart from the main body of car washing machine 1, a retreat detection sensor 56 for detecting a retreat of a vehicle 2 is provided, and a setting device for setting a minimum advancing distance of the main body of car washing machine 1 according to the mounted position of the retreat detection sensor 56 to avoid an detecting area of the retreat detection sensor 56 from being interrupted by the main body of car washing machine 1 is provided to confirm that the main body of car washing machine 1 is advanced by the minimum advancing distance of the main body of car washing machine 1 set by the setting device after the vehicle 2 has been washed by the main body of car washing machine 1, and, if it is not confirmed, the main body of car washing machine 1 is moved to achieve to the minimum advancing distance of the main body of car washing machine 1. By this structure, the detection area of the retreat detection sensor 56 can not be interrupted by the main body of car washing machine 1 and thus it is possible to avoid a situation in which the retreat detection sensor 56 detects the rear part main body 1B and the main body of car washing machine 1 can not retreat.
