PURPOSE: An electron gun for a cathode ray tube is provided to restrain the deterioration of a focus characteristic of electron beam by minimizing an asymmetric characteristic of the first main focus lens. CONSTITUTION: A cathode(4) is used for emitting thermoelectrons. A triode portion is formed with the first and the second electrodes(6,8) and the cathode. The third electrode(10) is arranged closely to the second electrode. The first and the second focus electrodes(12,14) are arranged closely to the third electrode. The second focus electrode is partially covered by an anode electrode(16). The anode electrode is arranged closely to the second focus electrode. A connector is used for connecting the third electrode with the anode electrode. A couple of support bodies are used for arranging electrodes in a line. A part of the first focus electrode facing the third electrode is located in the inside of the third electrode in order to form the first main focus lens(M1) in the inside of the third electrode.
