PURPOSE: A method of processing hard handoff between base stations having different shapes in a mobile communication system is provided to receive a message for measuring strength of pilot PN offsets of each base station from a mobile station, and to implement handoff performing conditions and handoff performing points, thereby enabling handoff between FAs(Frequency Assignments) to a base station having a different frequency from a current serving base station. CONSTITUTION: A base station receives an originating message for a call connection from a mobile station, and stores information of the mobile station included in the originating message(S110). The base station decides whether other base station using other frequency exists(S120). The base station transmits a pilot signal deciding message of a peripheral base station to the mobile station in order to know time when handoff is performed from the mobile station(S130). The base station decides whether a certain report is received from the mobile station(S140). After receiving the report, the base station transmits a handoff request message for performing handoff to other base station whose value is more than a specific threshold value to the mobile station(S150).
