PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera and a signal processing method by which an intended image with high image quality can be obtained by applying exposure correction to a picked up image while confirming the picked up image. SOLUTION: A system control section 16 of a digital camera 10 calculates a proper exposure from detected data 44b, an exposure control section 18 generates image data 30a by setting an exposure parameter denoted by an exposure control signal 16b to be lower than the proper exposure and that for a full dynamic range, gives the data 30a to a signal processing section 32, a pre-processing section 44 applies linear processing to the data 30a, and a frame memory section 34 temporarily stores the processed data. A display processing section 48 applies display processing in response to instruction information 14b with respect to a display image from an operation section 14 to the image data 44a from the frame memory section 34 to allow a liquid crystal display monitor 40 to repetitively display the processed data. The camera 10 allows a recording processing section 46 to apply recording image processing to the image data 44a reflecting final display processing, when a user is satisfied with the image. |
