PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inter-music-piece detecting method and an inter-music- piece detector in which inter-music-piece positions, that are changing positions (pauses) of a plurality of music signals (music pieces) being continuously inputted such as FM broadcasting or the like, are accurately detected. SOLUTION: Let t1 be a falling detection time of a plurality of input music signals A being continuously inputted and inter-music-piece signals C between inputted music signals B which become equal to or less than a predetermined silence determination threshold value L. Moreover, let t2 be a rising detection time of the signals A and C that become equal to or more than the value L. Having detected the times t1 and t2, an intermediate time t3 of the times t1 and t2 is obtained and defined as an inter-music-piece detection position.
