PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a window opening and closing device capable of forming an air-beating mechanism in the small number of components, freely varying an opening of a sliding door by wind pressure such as a wind or the like and obtaining a comfortable quantity of ventilation. SOLUTION: In the window opening and closing device comprised of the oscillation opening and closing type sliding door, a reciprocating operation means, a link mechanism 5 and the air-beating mechanism allowing free oscillation of the sliding door, the link mechanism is operated by the reciprocating operation means to have reciprocating members 46 and 46 making reciprocating motion, a pivoting arm 52 and a torsional arm 54 connecting the pivoting arm 52 to a bracket of the sliding door through ball joints 53 and 55, and the mechanism comprises a loose gap occurring between a driving pin 47 and an operating surface of the pivoting arm 52.
