PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyester-based synthetic paper which has high affinity to resins, excellent printing suitability, water resistance, hydrophobicity, and the like, does not cause the deterioration of the paper and the breeding of molds, even when brought into contact with water, and does not cause the whitening, cracking or cutting of a bent portion, even when bent. SOLUTION: This synthetic paper comprises a polyester-based nonwoven fabric comprising polyester drawn fibers and thermally fusible adhesive fibers in a weight ratio of 55:45 to 30:70, wherein metal sulfonate group-containing copolyester fibers are contained in an amount of 10 to 85 wt.% based on the total amount of the fibers as at least one part of the polyester drawn fibers and/or the thermally fusible adhesive fibers.
