PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make preventable the generation of wrong information caused by desorption of miscellaneous gases adsorbed on an activated carbon filter in a pulse driving sensor, during a high-temperature and high-humidity period. SOLUTION: A metal oxide semiconductor is heated in the pulsing state, to thereby detect CO. The miscellaneous gases are removed by the activated carbon filter. When a resistance value Rs of the metal oxide semiconductor is ten times or lower a standard level STD for 24 hours or longer, an alarm level is lowered to 0.8 times the standard level, and when Rs exceeds ten times STD, the alarm level is immediately returned to STD.
