The accelerometer uses two vibrating resonators whose frequencies (f1, f2) are measured. Calculations are carried out to determine both the sum and difference of these two frequencies. With known correlation to specific temperatures, the temperature is determined, and hence a corrected acceleration determined. The temperature compensated acceleration measuring equipment uses two vibrating resonators whose frequencies (f1, f2) are measured. The two resonators may be piezoelectric elements of small size, shaped by etching in a process where a number of such devices are produced on a single slice of base material. These resonators are then used to determine (18,19) the most probable temperature value (T) based on the sum of the frequencies (f1 + f2), and a pre-established correlation between such values and the temperature. A further determination (20) provides the value of the frequency difference (f1 - f2), and this is used in conjunction with the previous value to determine a temperature compensated value of the acceleration (gamma).
