A planar polymer capacitor comprises first and second electrodes (2, 8) each with a conductive layer, and at least a conductive polymer layer (6) between the electrodes. The electrodes and the polymer layer exhibit at least a single planar lamination, and the conductive layer has at least one dielectric layer (4). An Independent claim is also included for the manufacture of a capacitor comprising applying at least a first conductive layer to a circuit base; applying at least a dielectric layer to the first layer; applying at least a conductive polymer to the dielectric; and applying at least a second conductive layer to the polymer layer.
