A separator for fuel cells which is excellent in conductivity, gas impermeability, strength, etc.; and a separator composition for fuel cells which comprises a resin binder having a viscosity at 150{C of 0.01 to 0.5 Pa s and a viscosity at 25{C of 3 Pa s or higher, graphite particles contained in an amount of 5 to 15 times by weight the amount of the resin binder, and a curing accelerator. Examples of the resin binder include an epoxy resin binder comprising an epoxy resin and an epoxy resin hardener. Also provided is a process for producing the separator for fuel cells which comprises kneading and molding the separator compostion and curing it at a temperature not lower than the curing temperature of the resin binder. The separator for fuel cells, which is obtained by the process, has a bulk density of 1.90 g/cm<SP>3</SP> or higher, a sheet resistance (areal pressure, 0.5 MPa) of 40 mOcm<SP>2</SP> or lower, a gas permeability 1x10<SP>-14</SP> cm<SP>2</SP> or lower, and a flexural strength of 30 MPa or higher |
