[Also in Division B2] In a process for making unsupported film of thermoplastic synthetic resin which consists essentially of atactic polypropylene which is sticky within its melting range, the molten synthetic resin is applied to a support provided with a release layer or consisting of a release material and is pulled or lifted off the support after cooling. The film may contain at least one filler which may be 20 to 80% by weight of the film. The film may be laminated on one or both sides with, for example, woven or non-woven fabric, felt, paper or cardboard. The release layer or release material may be a silicone resin, for example, silicone rubber. In a preferred process, the molten resin is continuously applied to a moving support, passed under a doctor blade and then may have a laminating material applied without substantial pressure, while the resin is cooling and thereafter lifted off the moving support and wound up, together with a silicone resin treated release film. |
