The new pulse generator replaces a supply circuit in which the normal maximum voltage is 15.6 V DC and the optimal working voltage is 12.0 V DC. The maximum allowed current is 6.5 A, maximum power is 55 Watt, and maximum allowed temperature rise is 65 to 72 degrees K. The new power supply maintains a constant low voltage of 0.5 to 3.0 V DC, with occasional high-voltage pulses or spikes. The loading on the Peltier elements is altered by varying the length and frequency of occurrence of the pulses.
