PURPOSE: A method for providing and authenticating contents using a watermark is provided to chase the original unauthorized reproducer by using a specific key compounded with contents and prevent illegal copy by noticing that the illegal copy is traced. CONSTITUTION: A terminal of a user requests contents to the corresponding contents provider(S201). A web server judges whether the user is an authorized user(S202). A key generating server generates data for authentication including a specific key in one data field type(S204). The data for authentication is stored at a database server(S205). A contents compounding server compounds the specific key with contents wanted by the user(S206). The compounded data is transmitted to the terminal of the user(S207). The transmitted data is displayed by a browser of the terminal or stored at a storage space of the terminal(S208).
