PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of appropriately printing an image corresponding to an image data while a specific printing resolution can be obtained without changing, for example, a sensor, a scale or the like. SOLUTION: The printer has a printer main body and an LED head installed so as to be movable (reciprocating motion) to the printer main body. Further, the printer has a microcomputer, a gate IC equipped with a pulse decomposing conversion circuit 1 and a linear encoder comprising a linear scale and a sensor. In printing, a turning point of the LED head is detected based on an encoder pulses FG1 (A) and FG2 (B) from the sensor. Resolution of the encoder pulse is converted by utilizing the information and a reference pulse signal α of printing position is generated. Printing is carried out via the LED head specifying a position of the LED head based on the reference pulse signal α. |
