PURPOSE: A defrost control method is provided to suppress rise of refrigerator temperature caused due to the failure of detection of freezer compartment door open, while avoiding unnecessary power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A defrost control method comprises the first step of sensing a door open/shut state through a door switch; the second step(200) of sensing the indoor temperature of a refrigerator; the third step(210) of detecting an operating duration of a compressor; and the fourth step(220) of performing a defrost operation if the door is sensed as shut, the indoor temperature of the refrigerator is maintained at the temperature higher than a predetermined level, and the operating duration of the compressor has lapsed a predetermined time period.
