发明名称 REMOTE PON MONITORING APPARATUS USING MONITOR LIGHT LOOPING METHOD
摘要 PURPOSE: A remote PON(Passive Optical Network) monitoring apparatus using a monitor light looping method is provided to monitor every section of a PON by sequentially looping optical fibers split from splitter and tracing an OTDR(Optical Time Domain Reflectometer). CONSTITUTION: An OLT(Optical Line Terminal)(11) is installed in a central office(10). Plural ONUs(Optical Network Unit)(13) are installed in a subscriber terminal equipment. A working path optical fiber(21) transmits a signal light to the OLT(11) and to the plural ONUs bidirectionally. A protection path optical fiber(24) transfers a monitor light to the OLD(11) and to the plural ONUs(13). A splitter(12) splits the working path optical fiber(21) and the protection path optical fiber(24) to each ONUs(13). An OTDR(14) is installed on the working path optical fiber(21) ahead of the OLT(11) to generate the monitor light. Looping optical devices(15,16) are installed on a working path split optical fiber(22) and a protection path split optical fiber(23) in order to pass the signal light and loop the monitor light. A reflector(17) is installed on the protection path optical fiber(24) ahead of the OLT(11) to totally reflect the monitor light to return it to the OTDR(14) when the monitor light reaches the very front end of the OLT(11) of the central office(10) after tracing every split optical fibers(22,23).
