PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a vertical sawtooth wave signal with a predetermined amplitude, irrespective of the capacitance variation of a first sawtooth wave signal generating capacitor. SOLUTION: The deflector comprises a sawtooth wave signal generator having a first capacitor 14 for generating a sawtooth wave signal VRAMP in response to a synchronizing signal SYNC, a timing generator 10 for generating a timing control signal VRESET for determining the start time of a first (trace) part of the sawtooth wave signal and the end time of a second (retrace) part, means 23, 24 for sampling the level of the first part in response to a sampling control signal AGSSTR generated by the timing generator and for controlling a gain control voltage VAGC for controlling a current flowing across the first capacitor according to the difference between its sampled value and a reference level VHIGH, and a means VCC for setting the gain control voltage not to 0 but an initial set level during starting of a power source. |
