PURPOSE: A method for inputting characters of a mobile communication terminal is provided to arrange 7 consonants only on a keypad of the mobile communication terminal, thereby enabling a user to easily recognize characters displayed on keys without any problem caused by inputting one key many times. CONSTITUTION: An MPU(Micro-Processor Unit) checks whether a key is inputted(401). If so, the MPU checks whether the inputted key is a specific character(403). If so, the MPU displays the inputted specific character on a display(405). The MPU checks whether basic consonants are inputted(407). If so, the MPU displays synthetic characters combined with the specific character and the basic consonants on the display(409). If the specific character is not inputted(403), the MPU checks whether the inputted key corresponds to the basic consonants(411). If so, the MPU checks previously-inputted consonants and currently-inputted consonants, and checks whether two consonants are consecutively inputted(413). If so, the MPU displays one of the consonants on the display and completes the process(417).
