PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contents providing system and a contents providing method providing a user with contents satisfying conditions desired by the user. SOLUTION: An image provider terminal 101 owned by an image provider providing images, a user terminal 102 owned by the user desiring to purchase an image, and an image distribution server 104 storing the images sent from the image provider terminal 101 in states where they can be browsed by the user terminal 102 and distributing the image requested by the user are mutually connected via a network 103. The user makes a request for an image which the user wants to purchase not stored in the image distribution server 104 to the image provider terminal 101 via the image distribution server 104. The image provider sends the image satisfying the request to the image distribution server 104 and the requested image is downloaded to the user terminal 102.
