PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contents generating device, a contents reproducing device, and a contents providing method that can facilitate authentication of contents and a contents provider and prevent the illegal use of the contents. SOLUTION: In the contents providing method for providing the contents from the contents provider to a contents user to solve the task above, the contents provider includes: an authentication data generating step for generating authentication data based on the contents; and an authentication data attaching step for attaching the generated authentication data to the contents, and the contents user includes: an authentication data acquisition step for acquiring the authentication data attached to the contents; an authentication step for authenticating the contents provider on the basis of the acquired authentication data; and a reproduction processing control step for controlling reproduction processing of the contents based on the authentication.
