The present invention describes a process to reach, in an anaerobic denitrifying reactor, the simultaneous elimination of carbon, nitrate and sulfide present in liquid phase, which can be employed in the treatment of residual waters containing carbonated, nitrogenated compounds and sulfide. The invention is also related with a procedure to reach elimination efficiencies of more than 94% of carbon and nitrogen in heterotrophic denitrifying conditions, using a physiologically stable denitrifying inoculum, a C/N reaction in the feeding of 1.4 plus a low concentration of nutrients and microelements. Additionally, the present invention reports the gradual incorporation of sulfide which is efficiently eliminated by means of partial oxidation forming elemental sulphur without the excessive generation of biomass. In accordance with the present procedure, under the conditions of continuous denitrifying stationary state and at the maximum sulphur speed that corresponds to a S/N relation of 1.4 elimination efficiencies of carbon, nitrogen and sulfide of 65, 99 and 99% respectively are reached.
