DATA REARRANGEMENT METHOD TAKING DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM INFORMATION INTO ACCOUNT AND COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR PERFORMING DATA REARRANGEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain access performance favorable for database management system (DBMS) from a storage device by performing rearrangement of data by taking characteristic of the DBMS into account. SOLUTION: A data storage position manager program collects volume physical storage position management information and physical storage device operation information from the storage device to store the information as storage device constitution information and storage device operation information, collects required information from schema information in the DBMS to store it as DBMS schema information, collects mapping information in a host computer and virtual volume information in a virtual volume switch to store the information as data storage position management information, and obtains execution history information from the host computer to store it as DBMS execution history information to determine a data rearrangement plan having more satisfactory performance characteristic based on the information and issue data moving instruction for realizing it.
