PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnesium oxide particle-containing tablet for antacid and laxative having a high content of magnesium oxide particles, a short disintegration time and no practical tableting disorder, darkening of the tablet and tableting irregularity. SOLUTION: This antacid and laxative tablet contains magnesium oxide as an effective ingredient and satisfies the following items: (i) the magnesium particles included in the tablet have 0.5-10μm average secondary particle size measured by laser diffractive scattering method, (ii) the content of the magnesium oxide particles included in the tablet is >=88%, (iii) darkening and irregularity of the tablets are not observed and (iv) the disintegration time is <=10 seconds.
