PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire that can improve high speed durabil ity, ride comfort and road noise in a balanced manner while preventing increase in tire weight. SOLUTION: The pneumatic radial tire embeds, in a tread part 1, a plurality of belt layers 6a and 6b including the belt layer 6b using an organic fiber cord of a tensile strength of 2.0 GPa or more and a modulus of elasticity of 70 GPa or more. On an outer circumference side of the belt layers 6a and 6b, a belt cover layer 7 using a fiber cord comprising a filament of polyolefin ketone having a structure expressed by the following expression (1) is arranged, in which the fiber cord has a strength of 10 g/D or more and an elongation percentage of 3.5% or less under 2.25 g/D; -(CH2 -CH2 -CO)n-(R-CO)m-(1), where 1.05>=(n+m)/n>=1.00 and R is an alkylene group with a carbon number of 3 or more.
