PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam attemper which has a simple mechanism and is inexpensive without using various kinds of sensors such as pressure sensors and flow rate sensors, control valves, and pumps for feeding coolant. SOLUTION: A liquid-vapor mixing and separating device 7 is connected with a steam pipe 1 in which an overheated steam flows. The first liquid reservoir 2 is connected at the bottom of the liquid-vapor mixing and separating device 7. The second liquid reservoir 3 is integrally located under the reservoir 2 and connected at the bottom of the first liquid reservoir 2. The reservoir 2 and 3 are connected with a high-pressure liquid flow line 9. A connecting line 4 is connected with the bottom of the reservoir 3, and the upper edge of the connecting line 4 is connected with the inlet side of the mixing and separating device 7 of steam pipe 1. An in-line type heat exchanger 28 is installed in the connecting line 4. The overheated steam in the steam pipe 1 is cooled up to a predetermined temperature by a coolant fed to the steam pipe 1 from the first liquid reservoir 2 and the second liquid reservoir 3 through the connecting line 4.
