PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an exhaust emission control device which efficiently and positively fixedly holds a filter in the exhaust emission control device by using exhaust gas of an engine and irreversibly expanding an inorganic mat fixedly holding the filter, without providing a heating furnace or a hot air generator in a factory. SOLUTION: In the exhaust emission control device 1, the filter 10 for purifying particulate matter in the exhaust gas G of the engine is held via the inorganic mat 30. In an initial operation of the engine after attaching the exhaust emission control device 1 to an exhaust path of the engine, by carrying out exhaust temperature control operation of forcibly raising an exhaust temperature, high temperature exhaust gas is sent into the exhaust emission control device 1, the inorganic mat 30 is heated to a predetermined temperature or more and it is irreversibly expanded, and the filter 10 is fixed. |
