PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithographic printing plate master having an excellent plate wear resistance in the case of the lithographic printing plate and excellent hardness to contamination and to provide a support for the lithographic printing plate used therefor. SOLUTION: The support for the lithographic printing plate satisfies the conditions of (1) the surface roughness Ra obtained from three-dimensional data obtained by measuring 50 μm (square) of the surface at 512×512 points, Ra : 0.45 μm or more, (2) the surface area ratio ΔS: 30% or more, (3) the steepness degree a30: 55% or more and (4) the steepness degree a60: 10% or more. The lithographic printing plate master using the support is provided.
