PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent double feeding of thin sheets and to resurely feed thick sheets in a separation slope system. SOLUTION: A sheet feeder 100 comprises a sheet feed tray 22 for receiving sheets P, and a separation slope 21 arranged downstream in a sheet feeding direction in the tray 22 and separating the fed sheets one by one. For the separation slope 21, two feed rollers 1, 11 are arranged upstream and downstream in the sheet feeding direction at distances therefrom, respectively, and by these rollers 1, 11, the sheets P contained in the tray 22 are transported in the sheet feeding direction. The feed rollers 1 between those 1, 11, which are closer to the separation slope 21, perform feeding of the sheets P one by one while preventing double feeding, and the rollers 11 serve to assist the transport of the sheets P loosened by the roller 1.
