PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recovering device to prevent the occurrence of unevenness in thickness due to uneven filling of a fiber for recovering paintings made of paper or the occurrence of an unfilled part. SOLUTION: The recovering device comprises a filtering motion means 4 to effect a uniform flow of liquid for recovering over an object to be recovered by exerting longitudinal and/or a horizontal rocking and/or inclination rocking in either direction on paper to be recovered and liquid for recovering in a filtering tank 41; and suction means 5 to exert suction operation during flow-in of liquid for recovering and/or a filtering motion on a paper to be recovered and recovering liquid held in the filtering tank 41 to cause passage of the recovering liquid through the defective part of the paper to be recovered. By ensuring filling of recovering fibers by causing the recovering liquid to forcibly pass through the defective part, unevenness in thickness is prevented from occurring to a recovered part and a hole is prevented from being formed in a part of the recovered part.
