PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturizable coil starter capable of miniaturizing an external shape of a case 58 by forming unidirectional rotary mechanisms on a side wall surface of a driving wheel 53. SOLUTION: A support shaft 6 for rotatably supporting the driving wheel 8 is protrusively formed on an inside surface of a case 2. An annular recessed part 17 is formed along the support shaft 6. The unidirectional rotary mechanisms 18 and 27 are formed between the annular recessed part 17 and a side wall of the driving wheel 8 for allowing rotation only in the rotational direction for starting an engine by the driving wheel 8.
