PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal device capable of obtaining bright display utilizing a liquid crystal mode using a polarizing plate. SOLUTION: Signal lines 1507, MIM elements 1508, and pixel electrodes 1509 are arranged on an element substrate 1502, and a top side polarizing plate 1501 is placed on a viewing side. Counter electrodes (scanning lines) 1511 and color filters 1510 are arranged on a counter substrate 1504, and beneath that, a bottom side polarizing plate 1505 and a scattering reflection plate 1506 are placed. A 90-degree twisted nematic liquid crystal 1503 is filled between both substrates. The color filter 1510 is arranged only on a part of the light- modulable area in each dot. |
