PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of reliably separating and feeding recording sheets one by one. SOLUTION: The mounting angle of a driven gear 79 with respect to a rotary shaft 75 is changed so that the mounting angle of a semicircular roller 74 with respect to the rotary shaft 75 varies. More specifically, the orientation of a D-shaped cut 79e of the driven gear 79 for fixing the rotary shaft 75 is changed, and thereby the semicircular roller 74 is installed while being turned counterclockwise. This enables a drive gear 78 and the driven gear 79 to mesh with each other before the semicircular roller 74 abuts on the uppermost recording sheet 71 received in a recording sheet cassette 70. The semicircular roller 74 can therefore reliably separate and feed the recording sheets 71 one by one.
